Job Description

The primary role of the Minister is to plan and coordinate the preaching ministry at the North River Church of Christ.


1. Plan preaching texts, topics, and series for the congregation. Schedule, assign, and coordinate preaching opportunities. Work to ensure and maintain biblical, doctrinally sound, practical, and relevant sermons that will benefit and challenge listeners.

2. Invest the necessary time, study, and prayer to produce and deliver as high quality of sermons as possible. Normally, the minister will present both sermons for Sunday services.

3. Be available to teach various Bible classes on Sundays and Wednesdays.

4. Be available to conduct weddings and funerals upon request.

5. Plan and conduct occasional seminars, classes, or courses to help equip and
strengthen marriages and families in the congregation and community.

6. Meet with various ministry leaders to facilitate coordinated efforts.

7. Contact/visit congregational members. Special attention for hospitalized, home
bound, or grieving church members.

8. Motivate, equip and nurture the people of the congregation through example,
preaching and teaching.

9. Participate in evangelism efforts through worship services, visitation, internal
planning and other outreach efforts.

10. Attend and participate in monthly men’s business meeting. Meet with elders or
other designated leaders as needed.

11. Handle administrative duties such as retrieving phone messages, returning calls as
necessary, sending letters to visitors, maintaining church records such as member
attendance, member visitation, and other assigned administrative tasks (does not
include financial records).

12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description will be reviewed with Minister at least every six months and
modified as needed.

Post-secondary education in a formal Biblical Studies program (university or school of preaching).

Family and Youth Minister
The 14th and Main Church of Christ, in Big Spring, TX is seeking to find a minister who has a servant’s heart and will serve the Lord under the direction and guidance of the preaching minister and the elders of the congregation. You will have a supportive, healthy and unified Body of Christ to accomplish the main objectives of this ministry. The position will consist of helping lead and organize the teaching involving teens, younger children (pre-youth group age) and their families in activities for spiritual development through enrichment, education, and family-based events. Able to see a project through from start to finish. Youth camps, retreats, service projects, VBS, etc. We are looking for someone that will seek to develop in the youth a godly appreciation for the Lord and the entire church family. While the primary emphasis of work will be with the youth and their families there will be opportunities for assisting in other areas facilitating the church growth including preaching on an as need basis.
